YOUTH WORKSHOP Video Storytelling: Water
One billion people don't have access to safe drinking water -- that amounts to one in eight people worldwide. How will this number be impacted by climate change? Why was water unsafe in Haiti even before the earthquake? In this four-part workshop, students will learn about the current state of water from local experts and development practitioners. We'll explore the economic, social and political side of water issues, as well as what we can expect in the future. Local filmmakers will work with students to create short videos to build on and sustain the momentum from World Water Day, March 22, 2010. The class takes place at Mercy Corps Action Center and is designed and facilitated by Action Center Education Director, Julie Koehler, and Global Envision Site Coordinator, Chelsea Wieber. Flip cameras are provided and all shooting will be done during class time. This class is open to students in grades 9-12. Questions? Please email pdxactioncenter@mercycorps.org.
