Clean out your cupboard for your hungry Portland community members

Don't throw that food away! Donate it to a local food bank.

Provide bins at school for the non-perishables people were thinking of throwing away and donate the food to the Oregon Food Bank or start a food drive inviting students to bring non-perishables for a competition between classes.

In Depth

On any given night in Portland an average of 2,000 people sleep on the streets. Hunger is happening for these people in your city. This can be a temporary or chronic problem for families that because of rising joblessness, falling wages, and rapidly rising food and fuel costs have been stretched to the limit and beyond.

Spend a day volunteering to cook a homeless family a meal and find more ways to make a difference in our community with Hands on Greater Portland.
