In New York City, approximately 1.3 million people — largely women, children, seniors, the working poor and people with disabilities — rely on soup kitchens and food pantries for their daily food needs. Food Bank For New York City works to end hunger and increase access to affordable, nutritious food for low-income New Yorkers through programs that combat hunger and its causes. The Community Kitchen of West Harlem is one of the Food Banks many programs.
